Choquequirao would implement a cable car.


Choquequirao would receive 600,000 travelers in 2018 with the implementation of a cable car.




In the year 2018 according to tour package demands an aproximate turnover of  $ 12 million would be possible.
The construction of the cable car has been declared a priority for Choquequirao by the Regional Government of Apurimac, which has designated $ 85 million to fund the work. This has generated enthusiasm in business linked to the travel industry, which has already made calculations  on what the region will receive in revenue through this work.
Carlos Canales, president of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) believes that in the first year of operations with the cable car, Apurimac can receive 200,000 tourists, which will mean an income of U.S. $ 4 million at the rate of an average cost $ 20 per passenger.
“In the second year of operations, earnings could grow to U.S. $ 6 million, and thus increased successively to reach U.S. $ 12 billion annually in 2018, the result of the visit of some 600,000 people,” said the union leader.
In Canatur they believe that the cable car can be used to generate circuits “full day” of Machu Picchu to the most important archaeological complex of Apurimac, and thus cause little by little, the growth of  more hotels and restaurants infrastructure in the area, due to the fact that at this time it is very limited
To achieve this, the tourist chamber suggests to slightly modify the original route of the cable car, which begins on the lookout Kiuñalla in Abancay. “What we are proposing is that it would be better to start in Saywite, because that would connect Choquequirao and Machu Picchu in three hours,” says Mr. Canales to El Comercio.
The cable car will travel across the Apurimac jungle to reach the road between Abancay to Cusco, through Santa Teresa district adjacent to Machu Picchu Pueblo. The work includes the improvement and implementation of the missing sections to close this route.
