Foto By Martin Harbaum At the World Travel Awards, which took place this year in Lima, also distinguished PromPerú Peru was recognized tonight as the “best culinary destination in South America”  In the first edition of the Latin American  World Travel Awards, held in the city of Lima. Additionally, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru Export and Tourism (PromPerú) received the award for best South America tourist office. The Deputy Minister of Tourism Claudia Cornejo, gave her thanks for having received such a distinction and considered an honor to represent the tourism sector that works quietly in the development of the country. As indicated, there is confidence in achieving that tourism will continue to consolidate as the second national currency generator, in view of the efforts on behalf of all those who continuously contribute in making this come true. A Bird unprecedented in Peru was discovered at competition sightings

The black swift (Apodidae), a North American migratory bird was discovered in Peru during the Birding Rally Challenge, a competition held ornithological sightings in this country, and around Machu Picchu. This was announced today by the contest coordinator, Dennis Osorio, which summons in this competition some of the world’s leading experts in ornithology divided into six teams from five countries. In six days, participants must identify as many birds as possible along a journey that began in the Tambopata Amazon nature reserve and end in the mountainous jungle of Machu Picchu, which covers an area where “700 different species live, “said Osorio.
