Peru imposed itself as a new culinary destination in South America.

Foto By Martin Harbaum At the World Travel Awards, which took place this year in Lima, also distinguished PromPerú Peru was recognized tonight as the “best culinary destination in South America”  In the first edition of the Latin American  World Travel Awards, held in the city of Lima. Additionally, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru Export and Tourism (PromPerú) received the award for best South America tourist office. The Deputy Minister of Tourism Claudia Cornejo, gave her thanks for having received such a distinction and considered an honor to represent the tourism sector that works quietly in the development of the country. As indicated, there is confidence in achieving that tourism will continue to consolidate as the second national currency generator, in view of the efforts on behalf of all those who continuously contribute in making this come true. New findings in Huarmey concerning  Wari culture: 1200 gold and silver objects and 63 mummies. Foto by : Juan Ponce The burial chamber was found by a group of Polish and Peruvian Archaeologists, four hours North from Lima. The Tomb Robbers were never able to dig up this tomb. Ingeniously, the subjects of the Wari lords shielded with a layer of 33 tons of gravel and therefore the tomb remained intact for about 1,200 years. Since a couple of years ago, a group of Polish researchers began to uncover the secret that kept a burial chamber of the Wari culture, which could solve various questions about the influence during the Middle Horizon era which was ruled by  the Moche Empire and other north coast civilisations. Perhaps the evening is the best time to visit Chinchero. It is the time when there are fewer visitors and the light that comes from the mountains of the Cordillera de Vilcanota, glows gold fields, rocks and terraces of its archaeological site. The church, which stands on the terraces, creates games of shadows giving the whole place, known as the land of rainbow, a unique atmosphere. In the middle of the Lambayeque dessert, a Huaca located beside a colored hills defies knowledge about the origins of the Peruvian culture.  it is known as one of the most generous valleys in the world.  From where we stand it is spacious, bright and sunny. The surrounding mountains are arid and, amongst them, one stands out, Ventarron.  It is oriented to the north and at the foot of the hill, are seen in three colors, blue-gray at the base, yellow in the middle, and red on top. You can also observe geological faults, which seems to form a spider web, the mythical insect, which prognosticated rain in many cultures. The valley is crossed by two rivers, and the sea is about 20 kilometers away. Next to the colorful mountain lies a quiet town where he lives with his family and worked for five years, the archeologist Nacho Alva , directing research and field work that changed the understanding of the northern cultural origin. Royal Tombs of Sipan will beat record of visits in 2012

Its director, archaeologist Walter Alva said they expect to close the year with over l80.000 tourists. By 2013 and hopes to build a pavilion for temporary exhibitions. The Royal Tombs of Sipan (Lambayeque), which displays various objects found in the final resting place of the famous Moche ruler, will receive this year more than 180,000 tourists, which will set a record in visitors since it opened a decade ago , said its director, Walter Alva. This figure, said the archaeologist, would represent an increase of 12% compared to 2011. Up till the month of November this year the museum has received 176,719 visitors, of which a 157,547 were peruvians and 19,172 foreigners. With considerable importance Alva said that in the coming days he will present a magazine that explains the meaning of this important discovery made 25 years ago, and added that next year they hope to build a pavilion for temporary exhibitions.
